Connecting Biobanks PDF Afdrukken
Mark your calendar: 19 November is the date set for our third annual conference, Connecting Biobanks. The location: Beatrixtheater, Utrecht. Registration is not yet opened, but we will keep you posted on any developments.
     
Raising awareness of EU-US Biological and Medical Sciences Cooperation PDF Afdrukken

Brussels, May 15 – On the initiative of Seán Kelly, Member of the European Parliament, a series of biomedical sciences cooperation seminars will be held in Washington DC. These meetings aim to encourage further dialogue on international Science Interaction between members of the US Congress, officials from EU Institutions, and leading international scientists as well as their industry partners. A staff briefing in the US Congress on US-EU IT and Medical Sciences Research Infrastructures will round off the sequence of seminars and presentations. European Research Infrastructures, including BBMRI, and scientific initiatives will be presented on the 4th – 6th of June 2012.

WUR joins BBMRI-NL PDF Afdrukken
Wageningen University & Research centre (WUR) has joined the BBMRI-NL consortium, bringing the number of members to fourteen. Professor Edith Feskens will represent WUR in the steering committe, with Professor Daan Kromhout as her replacement.
     
BBMRI-NL in Norsk Epidemiologi PDF Afdrukken

An article on BBMRI-NL has appeared in the latest issue of Norsk Epidemiologi magazine, a biobanking special called Biobanking: from vision to reality. The article is entitled "How to kickstart a national biobanking infrastructure – experiences and prospects of BBMRI-NL", and it is written by Dr Margreet Brandsma et al. BBMRI-NL on National Roadmap Large-scale Research Facilities PDF Afdrukken
The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded BBMRI-NL a place on the National Roadmap for Large-scale Research Facilities. The award comes with a grant of 1 Million Euro's. BBMRI-NL will spend this grant in the same way it has used the earlier grant: to help strengthen and consolidate the biobanking infrastructure in the Netherlands in line with the European Roadmap, a topic given high priority by the previous government.
